Eminem and Vivek Ramaswamy
Rapper Eminem has publicly requested that Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy refrain from utilizing his music on the campaign trail.
A video of Ramaswamy, who is surging in the Republican primary race, singing along to Eminem’s ‘Lose Yourself’ at the Iowa State Fair earlier this month went viral.
Broadcast Music Inc. (BMI) stated in a letter that it had received an official request from Eminem asking that the 38-year-old contender no longer utilize his song.
Ramaswamy, who describes himself as Trump 2.0, has surged to third position among Republicans standing in the 2024 presidential primary elections.
His side hustle as an undergraduate at Harvard was rapping libertarian-minded lyrics with the stage moniker ‘Da Vek’.
“If you think debater-extraordinaire Vivek G. Ramaswamy ’07 is intense, you obviously haven’t met Da Vek”, Harvard’s student newspaper, The Crimson, humorously observed in 2006.
During the last two elections, well-known artists such as Pharrell Williams, Rihanna, Aerosmith, and Adele, as well as Prince’s heirs, claimed that their songs were played at Donald Trump rallies without their permission.
The Rolling Stones even threatened to sue the Trump campaign if they continued to exploit their legendary tune ‘You Can’t Always Get What You Want’.
