On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a warm reception from members of the Indian community in Uzbekistan, shortly after beginning his two-day State Visit to the Central Asian country.
Community members gathered to welcome PM Modi and raised slogans including ‘Modi Modi’, ‘Vande Mataram’ and ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’. Some women tied rakhis on the Prime Minister’s wrist as he interacted with those present.
The welcome featured cultural performances, with children presenting traditional dances for PM Modi. He watched the performances closely and later greeted the young performers.
Earlier, PM Modi visited the Yangi Uzbekistan Monument in Tashkent with Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. He laid a wreath at the monument and said it represented the aspirations and progress of the Uzbek people.
Taking to X, PM Modi posted, “Upon landing in Tashkent, went to lay a wreath at the Yangi Uzbekistan Monument with President Mirziyoyev. The Yangi Uzbekistan Monument reflects the aspirations and progress of the Uzbek people. Glad to begin my visit by coming here.”
