On Saturday, the Gaza border authorities said that the Rafah land crossing into Egypt will reopen to foreign passport holders and dependents on Sunday.
The crossing between Gaza and Egypt’s Sinai peninsula is the only non-Israeli access point into the Gaza Strip, and it has been critical for aid vehicles and evacuees, who number in the thousands.
Evacuations from the Gaza Strip into Egypt were delayed on Friday, according to Egyptian and Palestinian authorities, due to transportation issues from northern Gaza.
“The border would begin operating at 9 a.m. local time (0700 GMT) for foreigners and medical evacuees”, a source in Egypt said.
