Several pro-Pakistan social media accounts have spread fabricated documents aimed at undermining India’s national security.
The documents falsely claim to expose confidential assessments about the Indian Army’s preparedness and internal operations.
In response, the Press Information Bureau (PIB) swiftly dismissed the documents as fake.
Using the hashtag #PIBFactCheck, PIB urged citizens and media outlets to avoid sharing unverified information and to rely only on official government sources.
Meanwhile, the misinformation campaign coincided with reports of India preparing a stronger stance against terrorists after the Pahalgam attack.
The fake documents suggested that the Indian Army’s Integrated Defence Staff (IDS) questioned its ability to handle operations beyond minor skirmishes.
They falsely claimed that Indian soldiers had low morale, rising desertions, and that foreign actors, including Israelis, were involved in operations.
Furthermore, the Ministry of Defence expressed concerns about the use of such disinformation to destabilise public trust.
A senior official labelled the claims as part of a conspiracy to damage the reputation of the Indian Armed Forces.
At the same time, cyber intelligence agencies are closely monitoring the situation. They are working to identify and counter the hostile disinformation efforts originating from across the border.
Government officials reassured the public that the Indian Army remains fully prepared, and any suggestions to the contrary are false.
The officials urged citizens to stay alert to psychological operations and to trust only official communications from the government and the Indian Armed Forces.
