Prime Minister Narendra Modi with President Joe Biden
A day before the G20 meeting, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will host US President Joe Biden for a special dinner at his residence in New Delhi tonight.
President Biden is scheduled to drive straight to PM Modi’s residence upon his arrival, according to reports. Following bilateral meetings, the two leaders will dine together.
President Biden’s first travel to India comes three months after Prime Minister Modi’s State visit, during which he received the Prime Minister for dinner at the White House. He will depart for Vietnam on Sunday afternoon.
During their bilateral conversations, Prime Minister Modi and US President Biden are expected to make significant progress on the GE jet engine agreement and civil nuclear technologies. In April, GE announced the transfer of technology to India for the indigenous manufacture of jet engines.
According to US officials, both leaders will also evaluate ongoing collaboration in sectors such as clean energy, commerce, high technology, and defence, as well as how the two countries might contribute to addressing some of the world’s most serious concerns.
Before flying to India, President Biden tweeted, “I’m headed to the G20 – the premier forum for international economic cooperation – focused on making progress on Americans’ priorities, delivering for developing nations, and showing our commitment to the G20 as a forum that can deliver. Every time we engage, we get better”, through his official ‘X’ handle.

According to sources, PM Modi will attend more than 15 bilateral meetings over the next two days until Sunday.
He will also meet with the leaders of Mauritius and Bangladesh this evening at his Lok Kalyan Marg residence.
Apart from G20 discussions, PM Modi will attend bilateral meetings with the UK, Japan, Germany, and Italy tomorrow.
The Prime Minister will have an office lunch with French President Emmanuel Macron on the penultimate day of the G20 summit.
According to sources, he will hold a pull-aside meeting with Canada as well as bilateral meetings with Comoros, Turkey, the UAE, South Korea, the EU/EC, Brazil, and Nigeria.
