PM Modi's Respectful Gesture
During the second day of the 15th BRICS Summit, Prime Minister Modi engaged in a bilateral meeting with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa. The day was filled with various scheduled programs led by PM Modi. Notably, as PM Modi approached the BRICS stage, he noticed the tricolor flag resting on the ground. Demonstrating respect for the flag, he promptly picked it up and placed it in his pocket. This incident occurred as leaders convened for a group photo. Cyril Ramaphosa, observing PM Modi’s gesture, also uplifted a flag from the stage and handed it to his fellow leader.

Speaking at the BRICS conference, Prime Minister Modi highlighted that India is currently the world’s fastest-growing major economy. During the BRICS Business Forum Leaders Dialogue held in Johannesburg, South Africa, PM Modi confidently expressed India’s trajectory towards becoming a $5 trillion economy in the near future.

PM Modi envisions India as the global growth engine, attributing this prospect to the nation’s adept transformation of challenges into economic reforms. The country’s dedicated mission-based approach has effectively enhanced the ease of doing business, prioritized public service delivery, and upheld good governance. Notably, the widespread use of UPI reflects India’s technological advancement, evident in its leading position for digital transactions globally.
The leaders of India, China, Brazil, along with senior diplomats from Russia, have convened in Johannesburg for the 15th BRICS summit. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived in South Africa for the event. PM Modi took to Twitter on Tuesday, stating, “Enroute to South Africa for the BRICS Summit in Johannesburg. Excited to participate in the BRICS-Africa Outreach and BRICS Plus Dialogue programs.”
