On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Yangi Uzbekistan Park in Tashkent and paid tribute to the country’s history, cultural heritage and national identity.
The Ministry of External Affairs said PM Modi laid a wreath at the park, describing the occasion as a reflection of the longstanding friendship between India and Uzbekistan.

Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev accompanied PM Modi during the visit. The two leaders viewed artworks displayed at the park depicting Uzbekistan’s culture and historical legacy.
PM Modi arrived in Tashkent earlier on Saturday for a two-day State Visit and received a special welcome from President Mirziyoyev, who personally travelled to the airport to receive him.
Taking to X, PM Modi posted, “Landed in Tashkent to a warm welcome by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. Grateful to him for the special gesture. This is my fourth visit to Uzbekistan, reflecting the depth and growing momentum of our bilateral relations.”

During the visit, PM Modi will likely hold delegation-level discussions with Mirziyoyev. The talks will likely cover trade and investment, digital connectivity, defence and energy, alongside the two countries’ development goals of Viksit Bharat 2047 and Uzbekistan-2030.
“In recent years, India-Uzbekistan Strategic Partnership has seen significant advancement,” PM Modi said before his departure, adding that he looked forward to discussions on expanding bilateral cooperation and advancing the shared vision of Viksit Bharat and Yangi Uzbekistan.
The Prime Minister will visit the Shastri Memorial and the Mahatma Gandhi Centre at Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies, highlighting the cultural and people-to-people ties between India and Uzbekistan.
