PM Modi Urges SCO Members To Turn Security, Connectivity And Opportunity Into Results

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday urged Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) members to convert three key pillars into measurable results.

Addressing the 26th SCO Summit in Bishkek, PM Modi said security, connectivity and opportunity must move beyond vision. He noted that the SCO’s 25th anniversary offers a chance to plan its next 25 years.

“At the previous meeting, I had outlined the three main pillars of India’s vision for the SCO: S – Security, C – Connectivity, and O – Opportunity. The time has come to move these three pillars beyond vision and translate them into concrete outcomes. The first and foremost requirement for this is peace and security,” he said.

Prime Minister Modi called terrorism a major global challenge. He further urged SCO nations to dismantle terrorist financing, recruitment, radicalisation and safe havens.

PM Modi called for a unified stand against double standards on terrorism. He further linked global security with conflicts in West Asia.

According to PM Modi, such conflicts disrupt energy security, maritime trade and supply chains. He further urged countries to resolve disputes through dialogue and diplomacy.

The Prime Minister linked Eurasian security with peace in Afghanistan. He further highlighted India’s development and humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan.

Prime Minister Modi stressed the importance of reliable connectivity. He said shared geography should create shared opportunities, while connectivity projects must respect sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Prime Minister Modi said people-to-people ties should drive SCO cooperation over the next 25 years. He highlighted technology, entrepreneurship, innovation and start-ups as key opportunities.

Under Kyrgyzstan’s chairmanship, youth engagement has gained emphasis. India has launched the SCO Start-up Forum, Young Authors’ Conclave and Young Scientists’ Forum.

India, however, proposed the SCO Civilizational Dialogue Forum last year. Its first session will take place in India this year, PM Modi said.

“From shared geography to shared opportunities, from vision to outcomes, and from government-driven cooperation to people-driven partnership. With the same belief and commitment, India is ready to contribute to the SCO family’s shared journey,” he said.
