Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday departed for New Delhi after concluding his two-nation tour. He attended the 26th Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.
The summit took place under Kyrgyzstan’s chairmanship.
On its sidelines, PM Modi met Tajikistan President Emomali Rahmon and Laos President Thongloun Sisoulith.
PM Modi and President Sisoulith discussed ways to strengthen bilateral ties between India and Laos.
Taking to X, PM Modi posted, “Met Mr. Thongloun Sisoulith, President of Lao PDR on the sidelines of the SCO Summit in Bishkek. Had a great conversation on boosting bilateral linkages between our nations.”

Following his meeting with Rahmon, Prime Minister Modi affirmed India’s readiness to expand cooperation with Tajikistan across multiple sectors.
Before the summit, Prime Minister Modi joined other SCO leaders for a group photograph.
The Prime Minister interacted with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin ahead of the photograph.
The SCO has 10 member states: Belarus, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. It further has two observer states, Azerbaijan and Armenia, and 15 dialogue partners.
On Monday, Prime Minister Modi held bilateral talks with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. He paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at his memorial in Bishkek. He further met members of the Indian community who had gathered to welcome him.
Prime Minister Modi attended the opening ceremony of the World Nomad Games on Monday evening. He further extended his best wishes to the participating Indian contingent.
PM Modi arrived in Bishkek on Sunday after completing his Uzbekistan engagements.
In Tashkent, PM Modi met President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, paid tribute to former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri and visited the Mahatma Gandhi Centre at Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies.
