Prime Minister Narendra Modi will travel to Gothenburg, Sweden, on Sunday for the third leg of his ongoing five-nation tour at the invitation of Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson.
The two-day visit aims to strengthen India-Sweden cooperation in trade, innovation, green technologies and emerging sectors.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson will hold bilateral talks to review ties and explore new opportunities for collaboration. Their discussions will focus on trade, Swedish investment in India, green transition, artificial intelligence, climate action, startups, defence manufacturing and space cooperation.
Both countries also plan to expand partnerships in future-focused sectors and strengthen people-to-people ties.
A key highlight of the visit will be PM Modi’s participation in the European Round Table for Industry alongside Kristersson and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, where leaders will discuss economic growth, industrial cooperation and innovation.
The Sweden visit comes immediately after Prime Minister Modi concluded his official trip to the Netherlands, where he held talks with Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten.
During the visit, India and the Netherlands elevated bilateral relations to a Strategic Partnership and agreed to expand cooperation across trade, technology, renewable energy and defence.
PM Modi’s engagements in the Netherlands included meetings with King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima at the Royal Palace Huis ten Bosch in The Hague, followed by delegation-level discussions with Prime Minister Jetten.
Both countries acknowledged growing strategic convergence and reaffirmed their commitment to stronger bilateral cooperation.
Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Sweden is expected to further strengthen India’s engagement with Nordic countries and expand collaboration in innovation-led and sustainable development sectors.
