On Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi received Uzbekistan’s highest state honour, the ‘Oliy Darajali Do’stlik’ Order, from President Shavkat Mirziyoyev in Tashkent for his contribution to strengthening relations between the two countries.
The award adds to the growing number of international honours conferred on PM Modi during his tenure. He has received more than 30 major international awards and decorations from countries and organisations across different fields.
In July, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto presented PM Modi with Indonesia’s highest honour, the ‘Bintang Adipurna of the Republic of Indonesia’.
The honour was conferred during PM Modi’s two-day State Visit to Uzbekistan, which began on Saturday.
On Sunday, PM Modi held delegation-level discussions with President Mirziyoyev, with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, National Security Adviser Ajit Doval and MEA Secretary (West) Sibi George among the Indian officials present.
Earlier, President Mirziyoyev gave PM Modi a ceremonial welcome in Tashkent and personally received him at the airport.
PM Modi’s programme in Uzbekistan has included cultural engagements as well. He attended a yoga demonstration featuring 52 practitioners from the country and interacted with participants.
The session included six members of the Yoga Federation of Uzbekistan who represented their country at the First World Yogasana Championship 2026 in Ahmedabad in June.
PM Modi shared a video from the event on X and praised the participants for their performance. He thanked President Mirziyoyev for helping connect Uzbekistan with yoga and wrote, “Uzbekistan loves Yoga!”

PM Modi has described his fourth visit to Uzbekistan as a reflection of the depth and growing momentum of bilateral relations.
The visit focuses on expanding cooperation between India and Uzbekistan across strategic and economic areas.
