Prime Minister Narendra Modi was greeted with great enthusiasm by the Indian diaspora after arriving in Nice, France, on Saturday.
Supporters gathered in large numbers, raising slogans in his honour and expressing their pride in India.
The reception featured performances of renowned Indian classical dance traditions, including Kathak, Odissi, and Bharatanatyam.
In a message shared on X, PM Modi thanked the Indian community for their warm reception. He noted that Indians living abroad remain deeply connected to their roots despite being geographically distant from their homeland.

Several distinguished French and Indian representatives were present at the airport to receive the Prime Minister.
The welcoming delegation included French Minister for Higher Education, Research and Space Philippe Baptiste, senior prefecture official Patrick Amoussou-Adeble, French Ambassador to India Thierry Mathou, and India’s Ambassador to France Sanjeev Singla.
The Prime Minister’s arrival in Nice marks the opening leg of his two-country diplomatic tour.
One of the key highlights of the visit will be the launch of Bharat Innovates 2026 alongside French President Emmanuel Macron.
The programme will bring together leading start-ups, innovators, and venture capital representatives. It will likely create new opportunities for collaboration between Indian and international innovation ecosystems.
The Bharat Innovates initiative operates under the India-France Year of Innovation framework.
The event aims to strengthen cooperation in emerging technologies, entrepreneurship and research.
During his stay in Nice, PM Modi will hold comprehensive discussions with President Macron on key aspects of the India-France relationship. The leaders are also likely to review existing partnerships and explore fresh areas of cooperation.
After concluding his engagements in Nice, the Prime Minister will also travel to Evian to attend the G7 Summit on June 16 and 17. His participation highlights India’s growing influence on the global stage and its role in shaping discussions on major international issues.
