Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday pushed India-Jordan relations into sharper strategic focus as he shared details of his high-level meeting with King Abdullah II of Jordan, underlining convergence on security, stability, and economic cooperation.
The Prime Minister described the engagement as substantive and forward-looking, reflecting New Delhi’s intent to deepen partnerships in West Asia amid shifting regional dynamics.

The interaction took place during Prime Minister Modi’s landmark visit to Jordan, marking the first full-fledged bilateral visit by an Indian Prime Minister in over four decades.
The visit also coincided with 75 years of diplomatic relations between India and Jordan. At the heart of the discussions stood a shared commitment to regional peace and stability.
PM Modi and King Abdullah II reviewed developments across West Asia, including ongoing conflicts and security challenges, and reaffirmed their opposition to terrorism in all forms. India and Jordan reiterated that dialogue, diplomacy, and respect for sovereignty remain essential for durable peace in the region.

The Prime Minister also stressed people-to-people ties as the backbone of the relationship. He praised the Indian community in Jordan for acting as a bridge between the two societies and acknowledged Jordan’s role in safeguarding Indian interests in the region.
Cultural exchange, education, and skill development surfaced as key enablers of long-term engagement.
From a geopolitical lens, the meeting sent a calibrated message. India reinforced its balanced West Asia approach, engaging traditional partners while avoiding entanglement in rival blocs. Jordan, a stabilising force in the region, welcomed India’s constructive role and its consistent emphasis on peace, development, and strategic autonomy.
