Prime Minister Narendra Modi received an enthusiastic and emotionally charged welcome from the Indian community in Amman on Monday, setting a powerful tone for his historic bilateral visit to Jordan.
As PM Modi arrived at his hotel in the Jordanian capital, members of the diaspora waved Indian flags, raised slogans of ‘Modi Modi’ and ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai,’ and transformed the venue into a vibrant display of patriotism and cultural pride.
PM Modi personally greeted community members, interacted warmly with children, and watched a cultural performance organised in his honour.
The scenes reflected the strong emotional connection between India and its overseas citizens, especially in West Asia.
Acknowledging the affection, PM Modi later took to social media to express gratitude, noting that the Indian community’s pride in India’s progress and their cultural bonds showcased the enduring strength of the diaspora.
Prime Minister Modi said the Indian community continues to play a vital role in deepening India-Jordan relations, acting as a bridge between the two nations. He also expressed confidence that his visit would significantly strengthen bilateral cooperation across sectors.
Earlier, Prime Minister Modi received a rare and special airport welcome from Jordanian Prime Minister Jafar Hassan, underlining the importance Amman attaches to the visit.

Thanking his counterpart, PM Modi said the warmth extended to him reflected the depth of India-Jordan friendship and would further boost bilateral linkages.
Diaspora Warmth; Diplomacy Strengthened
This visit assumes historic importance as it marks the first full-fledged bilateral visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Jordan in 37 years and coincides with 75 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries. PM Modi is visiting Jordan at the invitation of King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein.
During the two-day visit, PM Modi will hold detailed discussions with King Abdullah II, Prime Minister Jafar Hassan, and Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II.
The talks are expected to comprehensively review political, economic, defence, and people-to-people ties, while also covering regional security and stability in West Asia.
Officials said the visit offers a timely opportunity to explore new areas of cooperation, reinforce counter-terrorism collaboration, and reaffirm both nations’ shared commitment to peace and stability.
India and Jordan have maintained strong leadership-level engagement in recent years, including multiple meetings between PM Modi and King Abdullah II since 2018.
This visit also builds on consistent diplomatic coordination, including Jordan’s support to India in the fight against terrorism and cooperation under global initiatives such as the Aqaba Process.
As PM Modi engages with Jordan’s leadership and the Indian diaspora, the visit underscores India’s expanding diplomatic footprint in the Middle East and highlights Jordan’s role as a trusted partner in the region.
