Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday met his Mauritian counterpart Navinchandra Ramgoolam in the Seychelles capital and held discussions on the full spectrum of bilateral ties.
The meeting marked the fourth interaction between the two leaders since Ramgoolam assumed office in November 2024.

Held on the sidelines of Seychelles’ Golden Jubilee National Day celebrations, the talks focused on the India-Mauritius Enhanced Strategic Partnership, covering development cooperation, maritime security, trade, capacity building and people-to-people ties, according to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).
The leaders reviewed ongoing bilateral cooperation and assessed the implementation of the Special Economic Package extended by India.
“Prime Minister Modi underscored the importance attached by India to the development and progress of Mauritius, noting that the ongoing bilateral projects will contribute to Mauritius’s healthcare, connectivity, sustainable development and blue economy,” the MEA said. “The two Prime Ministers agreed on the significance of the India-Mauritius Enhanced Strategic Partnership, under India’s Vision Mutual and Holistic Advancement for Security and Growth Across Regions (MAHASAGAR) and Neighbourhood First policy, and their shared commitment to the Global South.”
The two leaders reaffirmed their commitment to working closely for mutual growth and for peace, stability and prosperity in the Indian Ocean Region.
The meeting comes months after External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar visited Mauritius in April to inaugurate the country’s first dedicated renal transplant unit at Jawaharlal Nehru Hospital.
During the visit, Jaishankar reiterated India’s commitment to expanding healthcare cooperation and conveyed Prime Minister Modi’s message describing Mauritius as family and highlighting the close bond between the two nations.
