PM Modi Arrives In Kuwait For First Visit By Indian Prime Minister In 43 Years

Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Kuwait on Saturday afternoon, marking the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to the Gulf nation in 43 years.

His two-day visit, at the invitation of the Amir of Kuwait, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, aims to elevate the longstanding ties between India and Kuwait to new heights.

Upon his arrival, the Prime Minister was greeted with a grand welcome.

During the visit, PM Modi will receive a ceremonial guard of honour at the Bayan Palace.

He will also hold important meetings with the Amir of Kuwait and the Crown Prince of Kuwait, followed by delegation-level talks with the Prime Minister of Kuwait.

These discussions will cover a wide range of bilateral relations, including political, trade, investment, energy, cultural, and people-to-people connections.

The Crown Prince will also likely host a banquet in honour of the Indian Prime Minister.

As part of his visit, PM Modi will interact with the Indian diaspora at a community event and visit a labour camp.

Additionally, the Prime Minister is likely to attend the opening ceremony of the 26th Arabian Gulf Cup as a special guest of the Amir.

In his departure statement, PM Modi stated, “Today, I am embarking on a two-day visit to Kuwait at the invitation of His Highness Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the Amir of the State of Kuwait. We deeply value the historical connection with Kuwait that has nurtured over generations. We are not just strong trade and energy partners but also have shared interest in peace, security, stability and prosperity in the West Asia region.”

“It would be an opportunity to chalk out a road map for a futuristic partnership for the benefit of our people and the region. I eagerly look forward to meeting the Indian diaspora in Kuwait who have immensely contributed to the strengthening of bonds of friendship between the two nations,” the statement added.

He also expressed confidence that the visit will further reinforce the special ties between India and Kuwait.
