Paris Building Explosion Injures Five

Police and rescue services reported that an explosion at a residential building in the north of Paris on Saturday hurt five persons.

The explosion was identical to one in the French capital in June when three people were killed when a building exploded into flames and collapsed in a tourist-friendly area of the city centre.

Saturday’s bomb at the 18th Arrondissement was less forceful and did not result in a fire, but it broke the windows of the building, whose front had recently been refurbished.

The five injured were taken to the hospital, while the remaining building residents were evacuated.

Prosecutors said an inquiry into the cause of the explosion, which was suspected to be an accident, had begun.

According to a waitress at the neighboring Fulano restaurant, there was a big bang and a cloud of dust that filled the entire street.

In January 2019, four people were killed and 66 were injured after an explosion triggered by a gas leak damaged a building near Paris’s centre.
