‘Op Sindoor’: Shinde Led Delegation Engages Indian Diaspora In DR Congo; Highlights Anti-Terror Stand

An all-party parliamentary delegation from India, led by Shiv Sena MP Shrikant Eknath Shinde, visited the Democratic Republic of Congo (DR Congo) to engage with the Indian diaspora and promote India’s unified stance against terrorism.

The visit, part of the broader ‘Operation Sindoor’ outreach, took place from May 24 to 28 and forms a key element of India’s diplomatic push to build international consensus against cross-border terrorism.

During their visit to Kinshasa on Tuesday, the delegation interacted warmly with members of the Indian community residing in DR Congo.

The Embassy of India in Congo shared updates on social media, describing the engagement as a ‘warm welcome’ where the delegation apprised the community about ‘Operation Sindoor’ and India’s proactive measures to counter terrorism.

A Diplomatic Mission Across Four Nations

The delegation’s tour spans four countries- UAE, Liberia, DR Congo, and Sierra Leone, reflecting India’s intent to project a united and firm front globally on security issues.

Through these visits, India aims to raise awareness about its strategic initiative ‘Operation Sindoor’, which focuses on combating cross-border terrorism and exposing Pakistan’s alleged involvement in destabilising activities.

On the same day, the delegation held productive talks with senior Congolese officials, including Jean-Pierre Bemba Gombo, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport, and Michel Sama Lukonde Kyenge, President of the Senate of DR Congo.

These discussions reaffirmed the shared commitment of both nations to fostering global peace and security.

The delegation emphasised India’s firm stance against terrorism in all its forms and underscored the importance of international cooperation to dismantle terror networks.

Such engagements are part of India’s ongoing diplomatic efforts to strengthen bilateral ties while advancing a global security agenda.

The parliamentary team includes MPs from multiple parties, representing a cross-section of India’s political landscape: Shrikant Eknath Shinde (Shiv Sena), Bansuri Swaraj (BJP), ET Mohammed Basheer (IUML), Atul Garg (BJP), Sasmit Patra (BJD), Manan Kumar Mishra (BJP), SS Ahluwalia, alongside former diplomat and strategic expert Ambassador Sujan Chinoy.

This diverse composition reflects the broad political consensus in India on the need to address terrorism decisively and the importance of diplomatic outreach in building global alliances.

Building Global Consensus Against Terrorism

The ‘Operation Sindoor’ outreach is hailed as a strategic diplomatic effort to foster global solidarity against terrorism.

By engaging with foreign governments and Indian communities abroad, the delegation seeks to highlight India’s commitment to peace and security while pressing for international cooperation to effectively combat terror threats.

As India expands its diplomatic reach, such initiatives help enhance awareness of its zero-tolerance policy on terrorism and strengthen partnerships vital for ensuring regional and global stability.

This visit marks a significant step in India’s foreign policy to bolster its anti-terror credentials internationally and strengthen ties with countries in Africa, aligning with its vision of a peaceful, secure world order.
