North Korea Strongly Condemns US Strikes On Iran’s Nuclear Sites

North Korea on Monday issued a forceful condemnation of the United States’ recent military strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities.

The North’s foreign ministry accused the US of violating Iran’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, calling the attack a blatant breach of the UN Charter.

“The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea strongly denounces the attack on Iran by the US, which severely violated the UN Charter and trampled on the territorial integrity and security interests of a sovereign state,” said a foreign ministry spokesperson via the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).

Pyongyang blames the US and Israel for regional instability

North Korea blamed the growing instability in the Middle East on what it described as ‘Israel’s reckless valour’ and accused both the US and Israel of deliberately escalating tensions.

“The current situation is an inevitable product of Israel’s actions, backed by US aggression,” the ministry stated. “The just international community must raise its voice in unanimous rejection and censure of the US and Israel’s confrontational acts.”

Pyongyang and Tehran, both under international sanctions for their weapons programs, have maintained close ties for decades.

Before the US strikes, North Korea had already criticised Israel for its air assaults on Iranian targets.

Pyongyang described the Israeli strikes as a ‘hideous act’ and warned that such aggression could destabilise the region further.

US defends strikes at UN Security Council

In response to global criticism, the United States defended its military action during an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council. Acting US Ambassador Dorothy Camille Shea confirmed that American forces targeted Iran’s Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan nuclear facilities.

Shea said the strikes aimed to dismantle Iran’s nuclear enrichment capabilities and remove what she called the “world’s foremost state sponsor of terror” as a threat to global security.

“This operation sought to eliminate a longstanding but rapidly escalating source of global insecurity and to aid our ally Israel in exercising our collective right to self-defence, consistent with the UN Charter,” she said.

US accuses Iran of obstruction and hostility

Ambassador Shea accused Iran of obstructing international efforts at nuclear transparency and undermining diplomatic negotiations.

“For 40 years, the Iranian government has called for ‘Death to America’ and ‘Death to Israel’, posing a continuous threat to regional and global peace,” she stated.

Shea also warned Iran against any retaliatory action.

“As President Trump said, any Iranian attack—direct or indirect—against Americans or US bases will be met with devastating retaliation,” she added.
