Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his leadership and enduring friendship. He responded to PM Modi’s greetings to Israel and Jewish communities on Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year.
The Office of the Prime Minister of Israel conveyed Netanyahu’s message on X.
Netanyahu thanked PM Modi for his warm wishes to the people of Israel and to him personally. He said the Jewish New Year offered an opportunity to acknowledge Prime Minister Modi’s leadership and lasting friendship.
Netanyahu said both leaders had transformed ties between their ancient civilisations into an unprecedented partnership between two major democracies. He added that he and his wife Sara looked forward to meeting PM Modi again soon.

Prime Minister Modi had greeted Netanyahu, Israelis and Jewish communities worldwide on Saturday. He wished them peace, hope, good health and continued progress in the new year.

Israeli President Isaac Herzog expressed similar sentiments towards India. On Sunday, he thanked President Droupadi Murmu for her Rosh Hashanah greetings and described India as a ‘true friend of Israel’.
Herzog conveyed wishes for peace, prosperity, good health and harmony to Murmu and the people of India. He expressed hope that the deep friendship between the two nations would continue to flourish.
President Murmu had sent her greetings to Herzog and Jewish communities in Israel and around the world on Saturday. She wished them peace, prosperity, good health and renewed hope.
Rosh Hashanah marks the Jewish New Year. The festival means ‘head of the year’ and commemorates the creation of the world.
