Russia’s security services announced on Friday that three people from a Central Asian country were arrested for organizing an attack in the country’s south.
The FSB stated in a statement that it had put an end to the terrorist activities of three nationals from a Central Asian country who were planning to commit a terrorist act by blowing up a device in a public place in the Stavropol region.
Russian media broadcast photos of several individuals being pinned to the ground by FSB operatives.
According to the report, the elements for an improvised explosive device (IED) and chemical compounds were discovered in one of the suspects’ homes.
The announcement came a week after the shooting at Moscow’s Crocus City concert hall, which killed at least 144 people.
Stavropol is located in southern Russia’s North Caucasus area, bordering Dagestan and Chechnya, among other territories.
