Kolkata Knight Riders all-rounder Sunil Narine on Friday achieved a milestone during the Indian Premier League clash against Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
He became the fourth player, and only the second spinner, to make 500 appearances in the T20 format.
In his 500th T20 appearance, Narine picked Glenn Maxwell’s wicket and conceded 40 runs in his four-over spell.
During the run chase of 183, Narine dominated the RCB bowling, scoring 47 runs in just 22 balls. He hit two fours and five sixes, achieving a strike rate of 213.64 and effectively sealing the game within the powerplay.
Before Narine, his former teammates Kieron Pollard and Dwayne Bravo held the top two positions for the most appearances in the T20 format.
Pollard leads with 660 T20 appearances, while Bravo follows closely behind in the second position with 573 appearances.
Pakistan’s all-rounder Shoaib Malik secures the third spot with 542 T20 appearances to his credit.
Meanwhile, this was KKR’s sixth consecutive win against RCB at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium since 2016.
With this win, KKR rose to second place, thus pushing Rajasthan Royals to third.
Chennai Super Kings top the table.
Interestingly, the trio of CSK, KKR, and RR, all have four points each, but their positions are based in the NRR.
