Prime Minister Narendra Modi met internet sensation and rapper Hanumankind, whose real name is Sooraj Cherukat, during the ‘Modi and US’ event held at Nassau Coliseum in Long Island, New York, on Sunday, September 22. The meeting took place as part of PM Modi’s three-day visit to the United States.
Videos of Hanumankind’s performance at the event have gone viral, showcasing the enthusiastic response from the audience, who were seen enjoying and dancing along to his music. After his set, PM Modi greeted the rapper with a handshake and a warm hug, commending him for his performance. The Prime Minister also expressed his enthusiasm by exclaiming, “Jai Hanuman.”

PM Modi also embraced other artists at the event, including Aditya Gadhvi and Devi Sri Prasad, who performed to an international audience. The event has garnered significant attention, highlighting the cultural exchange between India and the United States.
Singer Aditya Gadhvi also performed in front of PM Modi and a crowd of 13,500. Aditya took the internet by storm last year with his song Khalasi, which “tells the tale of the limitless sailor who has set out to explore through the shores of Gujarat.” Composer Devi Sri Prasad, popular for his music in films like Pushpa: The Rise and Waltair Veerayya, was also present at the event and met PM Modi.
Rapper Hanumankind, whose real name is Sooraj Cherukat, is rising as a prominent figure in mainstream hip-hop with tracks like ‘Big Dawgs’, ‘Rush Hour’, ‘Genghis’, and ‘Go To Sleep’. Sooraj spent his formative years in Texas, blending Texas-influenced sounds into the ‘Big Dawgs’ music video, creating a unique fusion of desi and global elements.
