Microsoft Cloud Outage Hits Airlines, Media, Banking Services Worldwide

A major glitch in Microsoft Corp.’s cloud services has caused widespread disruption across various industries worldwide. Multiple businesses in India reported service disruptions on Friday.

Several airlines, including Indigo, Akasa Air, Air India Express, and Spicejet, experienced technical glitches affecting services such as ticket booking and web check-in.

Service disruptions also impacted numerous airlines and banks globally. The cause of the outage remains unclear, but many affected parties have linked the issue to Microsoft’s PC operating systems.

An official Microsoft 365 service update earlier in the day stated, “We’re investigating an issue impacting users’ ability to access various Microsoft 365 apps and services.” The London Stock Exchange also suffered an outage.

Several media outlets in India and globally reported disruptions in broadcast and news services due to the Microsoft outage.

Microsoft users experience blue screen error on windows

Furthermore, a widespread Windows bug has left thousands of users’ systems in ‘recovery’ mode, displaying the infamous ‘Blue Screen of Death’ error message. This issue has reportedly affected airports, government offices, media houses, businesses, and even emergency services.

Social media users are sharing screenshots showing their PCs stuck on a blue screen with the message, “It looks like Windows didn’t load correctly. If you’d like to restart and try again, choose Restart my PC below.”

George Kurtz, President and CEO of CrowdStrike, addressed the widespread disruptions caused by a recent update to the company’s Falcon sensor. This update has resulted in numerous PCs being stuck at the recovery screen, significantly impacting operations at airports, companies, banks, and government offices worldwide.

CrowdStrike is a cybersecurity platform that provides security solutions to users and businesses, utilizing a single sensor and unified threat interface with attack correlation across endpoints, workloads, and identities. Falcon Identity Threat Protection stops identity-driven breaches in real-time.
