The hottest September in Japan since records began 125 years ago, the weather agency reported, in what is likely to be the warmest in human history.
In a statement, the Japan Meteorological Agency stated, “The scorching September’s average temperature was 2.66 degrees Celsius (36.78 degrees Fahrenheit) higher than usual”.
“This was the highest figure since the start of statistics in 1898”, the statement reads.
As climate change accelerates, this year is predicted to be the hottest in human history, with Austria, France, Germany, Poland, and Switzerland all reporting their warmest September on record.
According to Meteo-France, the average September temperature in France will be approximately 21.5 degrees Celsius, which is between 3.5C and 3.6C over the 1991-2020 reference period.
The United Kingdom has also tied its record for the warmest September since records began in 1884.
