Islamabad Police Arrive At Zaman Park To Arrest Imran Khan

Islamabad Police Sunday arrived at former Pakistan prime minister Imran Khan’s Zaman Park residence in Lahore to arrest him in the Toshakhana case.

Toshakhana is the government repository where official gifts received from foreign officials and delegates are kept. Imran Khan has been accused of keeping those gifts with him without paying any money to the repository.

On February 28, 2023, a district and sessions court in Islamabad issued non-bailable arrest warrants for the ousted prime minister over his continuous absence before the judge in the Toshakhana case.

Islamabad Police have tweeted, “According to the court orders, a team of Islamabad Police has reached Lahore to arrest Imran Khan. All operations are being completed with the cooperation of the Lahore Police. Legal action will be taken against those obstructing the execution of court orders”, through its official Twitter handle.

“Islamabad Police will transfer Imran Khan to Islamabad under their protection. Law is equal for all”, Islamabad Police added in another tweet.

According to police, the former premier is avoiding arrest.

Islamabad Police further stated, “Imran Khan is reluctant to arrest. SP has gone to the room but Imran Khan is not there. The team has arrived to arrest Imran Khan”, in another tweet.

According to Pakistani media, “PTI senior Vice President Fawad Chaudhry, warned of a worsening situation in the country if the government moves against the former prime minister”.

PTI senior Vice President Fawad Chaudhry said, “Any attempt to arrest Imran Khan will seriously worsen the situation, I want to warn this incompetent and anti-Pakistan government not to push Pakistan into further crisis and act sensibly.”
