Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters has urged Muslim states in the region to prevent US and Israeli attacks on Iranian fuel and energy facilities. It warned that Tehran would respond with similar actions if the strikes continue.
Spokesman Ebrahim Zolfaghari made the remarks after US and Israeli strikes hit several fuel storage facilities in Tehran and neighbouring Alborz Province on Saturday night.
The attacks caused temporary disruptions to fuel supplies and raised health and environmental concerns. Xinhua News Agency reported this, citing the Iranian Students’ News Agency.
Zolfaghari accused the United States and Israel of ‘brutally’ attacking Iran’s energy infrastructure. He said the attacks also targeted public service centres.
Zolfaghari added that the strikes also killed civilians. He said Muslim states in the region should warn Washington and Jerusalem against taking such ‘cowardly and inhumane actions’ to prevent the spread of conflict.
“Otherwise, similar actions will be taken in the region. If you can tolerate oil prices above $200 per barrel, keep playing this game,” Zolfaghari added.
The warning follows February 28 joint strikes by Israel and the United States on Tehran and several other Iranian cities.
The attacks reportedly killed Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, some of his family members, senior military commanders, and civilians.
In response, Iran launched multiple waves of missile and drone attacks targeting Israel and US bases across the Middle East.
Earlier on Saturday, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said it attacked a refinery in Haifa in retaliation for the US-Israeli strike on its own energy infrastructure.
In a statement published on its official outlet Sepah News, the IRGC said Kheibarshekan missiles struck the Haifa refinery.
Meanwhile, the National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company said energy infrastructure across the country came under US-Israeli attacks on Saturday night.
Missiles hit several oil depots in Tehran and Alborz provinces, causing fires. Firefighting teams are currently working to contain the blaze.
Tehran also experienced a new wave of heavy attacks later that night. Large explosions were reported across different parts of the capital.
