Indian, Pakistani Troops Exchange Diwali Sweets At Jaisalmer Border

Indian and Pakistani troops stationed near Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, exchanged sweets on Diwali, symbolizing peace and camaraderie, officials reported Friday. Border Security Force (BSF) personnel greeted Pakistani Rangers with sweets, reciprocated by Pakistan’s Rangers, who also wished them “Happy Diwali.”

The festive exchange took place at the Zero Line, where BSF jawans celebrated by lighting diyas at forward posts and distributing sweets, sending a message of unity and security. Women personnel joined in by creating rangoli designs, enhancing the Diwali spirit along the border.

In keeping with tradition, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spent Diwali with soldiers, this time at Lakki Nala in Gujarat’s Sir Creek. Addressing the troops, Modi lauded their resilience and commitment in defending India under harsh conditions. “Celebrating with you doubles the joy of Diwali,” he said, reflecting on this year’s special festival as Lord Ram’s return to Ayodhya was honored.

Modi extended gratitude from India’s 1.4 billion citizens, acknowledging the troops’ service in challenging landscapes, from freezing mountains to scorching deserts. “Your courage shines like steel, deterring any enemy who dares to test our strength,” he remarked.
