Indian Diaspora In UK Applauds ‘Operation Sindoor’ & PM Modi’s Leadership

In a powerful show of solidarity, the Indian diaspora in the United Kingdom lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership and India’s robust response to cross-border terrorism through ‘Operation Sindoor’.

The sentiments were voiced during a diaspora outreach programme hosted by the Indian Embassy in London on Sunday.

A cross-party Parliamentary delegation from India, led by BJP MP and former Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, attended the event.

The nine-member delegation includes MPs and dignitaries from various political backgrounds, including Daggubati Purandeswari, Priyanka Chaturvedi, Ghulam Ali Khatana, Amar Singh, Samik Bhattacharya, M Thambidurai, former minister MJ Akbar, and former ambassador Pankaj Saran.

Unified Voice Against Terrorism

The delegation interacted with the Indian community and conveyed India’s unequivocal and assertive stance against terrorism.

Community members expressed their pride in India’s armed forces and praised the strategic precision of ‘Operation Sindoor’.

One attendee remarked, “India has shown Pakistan what we are capable of in just five days. The world has witnessed the impact, and Pakistan’s call for a ceasefire is evidence of India’s success.”

Another participant described the name ‘Sindoor’ as symbolic, not only a traditional symbol for married women, but now a mark of India’s unity and strength in safeguarding its people.

“PM Modi’s leadership gives us confidence that India will respond firmly to any terror threat,” she said.

Several diaspora members clarified that their sentiments were against terrorism and its sponsors, not the people of Pakistan.

A speaker noted, “We want peace, but Pakistan removed the ‘sindoor’ of our sisters. The Indian response was justified. Operation Sindoor may be paused, but it’s not over – Pakistan Occupied Kashmir will come back to India.”

The visiting delegation also paid tribute to Dr BR Ambedkar at the Ambedkar Museum in London.

The MPs reflected on how the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack occurred on the anniversary of the Indian Constitution’s adoption—a stark reminder of terrorism’s challenge to democratic values. They reaffirmed India’s resolve to combat terrorism in all forms.

The Parliamentary delegation will continue its four-day UK visit with meetings scheduled with Speaker of the House of Commons Sir Lindsay Hoyle, FCDO Indo-Pacific Minister Catherine West, and members of both Houses of Parliament, along with engagements with media and think tanks.

The Indian Embassy in London reaffirmed the purpose of the visit, ‘to convey India’s unequivocal commitment to defeat terrorism and strengthen democratic ties globally’.
