Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday expressed heartfelt gratitude after receiving an enthusiastic welcome from the Indian community in New Zealand.
In his statement, PM Modi said the diaspora’s warmth reflected its enduring bond with India.
Taking to X, PM Modi posted, “The love and affection of the New Zealand’s Indian community touched me deeply. They have waited four decades for the visit of an Indian Prime Minister and their extraordinary enthusiasm and warmth were visible today. Their bond with India remains unwavering.”

PM Modi arrived in Auckland on Friday evening, local time, for the final leg of his three-nation tour.
In a special gesture, New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon personally welcomed him at the airport, marking the first official visit by an Indian Prime Minister to New Zealand in 40 years.
To commemorate the occasion, Auckland’s iconic Sky Tower, however, lit up in the colours of the Indian tricolour.
Prime Minister Luxon also welcomed PM Modi through an X post, sharing a video of his arrival and writing, “Welcome to New Zealand, Prime Minister @narendramodi.”

Upon reaching Auckland, PM Modi described the visit as historic.
PM Modi thanked PM Luxon and looked forward to discussions on bilateral ties. He added that he would also address a community event in Auckland during his visit.
