India Renews Safety Advisory For Citizens In Israel As Israel-Iran Tensions Escalate

Israel-Iran Tensions: Amid escalating conflict in West Asia, the Indian Embassy in Israel has issued a fresh safety advisory for Indian nationals living in the region, urging them to remain alert and follow the safety protocols prescribed by Israeli authorities.

The Indian Embassy issued the advisory on Saturday via its official social media handle @indemtel, urging all Indian nationals in Israel to remain vigilant and follow the safety protocols prescribed by Israeli authorities and the Home Front Command.

The Embassy has shared 24×7 emergency contact numbers (+972 54-7520711, +972 54-3278392) and an email (cons1.telaviv@mea.gov.in) for assistance.

The Indian Embassy has advised citizens to avoid all non-essential travel within Israel and remain close to designated safety shelters.

The move follows a steep rise in tensions after Israel launched a large-scale military campaign, ‘Operation Rising Lion’, against Iran on Friday.

The operation aims to dismantle what Israel describes as an “imminent Iranian threat of annihilation.”

Diplomatic contact between India & Israel

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu informed Prime Minister Narendra Modi of the situation in a phone call on Friday.

PM Modi posted on X: “Received a phone call from PM Netanyahu of Israel. He briefed me on the evolving situation. I shared India’s concerns and emphasised the need for early restoration of peace and stability in the region.”

Netanyahu’s office confirmed that the Israeli leader had spoken with several world leaders, including PM Modi, to provide updates on the military campaign and seek diplomatic understanding.

“Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu… held conversations with world leaders, including the German Chancellor, the Indian Prime Minister and the French President. He is also scheduled to speak with leaders of the US, Russia, and the UK,” read a statement from the Israeli PM’s office.

The situation escalated further early Saturday morning when nearly 100 missiles were launched from Iran towards central and northern Israel in two coordinated strikes.

According to Israel’s national emergency service, Magen David Adom (MDA), the barrage resulted in 41 injuries, including two in critical condition and several others with moderate to light injuries or trauma.

Iranian state media later confirmed the missile strike as part of its retaliation, further heightening fears of an expanded conflict.

The Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) acknowledged the new wave of attacks but did not immediately disclose the number of missiles or specific target zones.

The situation remains fluid as the international community closely monitors the rapidly deteriorating security environment.
