India-China Border
The senior Chinese diplomat said the earlier situation of “emergency control” at the India-China border is a matter of the past, and overall, it is stable at present.
Chen Jianjun, Minister Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy in India, told the media on Friday evening that the two Asian giants continued to communicate through diplomatic and military channels, promoting the transition of the border situation to normalized management and control.
He described the current border situation as ‘generally stable’. “The Chinese side has always viewed and handled China-India relations strategically and long-term”, he added.
Mr. Jianjun further said, “Despite the difficulties in the relationship, China’s position has never wavered, and we have been committed to putting it back on the path of healthy and steady development”.
He stated that the two countries could draw strength from their ancient civilizations and share oriental wisdom with the world in order to jointly maintain global order stability.
“In a world fraught with change and chaos, China and India could advocate for greater institutional rights for developing countries. The collaboration of the two countries will have implications for the future of Asia and beyond”, Mr. Jianjun went on to say.
Mr. Jianjun stated that China supports India as it assumes the presidency of the G-20 and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
“Bilateral trade between China and India is expanding. Cultural, scientific, technological, educational, and other people-to-people exchanges and cooperation resume in a systematic fashion”, he added.
