Imran Khan, the leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has stated that if his party is outlawed, he will form a new political party to contest the upcoming general elections and will win.

Following the violent statewide rallies on May 9 and the subsequent crackdown on the demonstrators and the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, many government officials urged for the party to be banned.

The only option, according to Pakistan Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah, is to outlaw the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.

Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has stated that such a step is being explored, while Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader and Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has stated that his party will not oppose any attempt to ban the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.

When asked about the impact of a possible ban on his electoral prospects by Nikkei Asia, Imran Khan responded, “If they remove the party, then we will form a new party with a new name and still win the elections”.

“Even if they disqualify me and throw me in jail, the party will still win”, Imran Khan stated.

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf head told the publication that his support base remains intact, despite the fact that national politics had fundamentally changed.

In response to the ongoing onslaught on his Political Party, Imran Khan stated that the government was still attempting to break it through intimidation.
