Hezbollah

In the early hours of Tuesday, Israeli forces launched ground operations in southern Beirut’s suburbs, following localised strikes on Hezbollah targets. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed the commencement of the operations, aimed at neutralizing Hezbollah infrastructure near the border.

The IDF announced the ground operations, supported by air and artillery strikes, focusing on immediate threats to northern Israeli communities. Evacuation warnings were issued to residents in Haret Hreik, Mreijeh, and Laylaki before the strikes.

Ground Operations Part of Larger Strategy

The IDF revealed that the operations are part of a broader strategy, planned for months by the General Staff and Northern Command. The raids are intended to safeguard northern Israel, operating under the code name ‘Northern Arrows.’

This escalation follows intensified airstrikes by Israel on Lebanon since September 23. On Friday, a major strike killed Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah. Hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah have escalated since October 8, after Hezbollah launched rockets in solidarity with Hamas in Gaza.
