Warning To Israel: No hostage would escape the Gaza region alive, according to Hamas, until the group’s demands were fulfilled. According to news agency, in a televised broadcast, Abu Obeida, the armed wing of Hamas spokesman, stated, “Neither the fascist enemy and its arrogant leadership… nor its supporters… can take their prisoners alive without an exchange and negotiation and meeting the demands of the resistance.”
Hostages under Hamas
80 Israelis were among the 105 hostages released by the organization during a one-week ceasefire in the fighting that broke out on December 1. For the release of 240 Palestinian detainees, they were exchanged.
While mediator Qatar stated that efforts to arrange a fresh truce and free more hostages were ongoing, Israel claimed that 137 detainees were still within Palestinian territory. However, Qatar cautioned that the continuous Israeli shelling was “narrowing the window” for a good conclusion.

Hamas would keep battling
According to Abu Obeida, Hamas would keep battling Israeli forces. “We have no choice but to fight this barbaric occupier in every neighbourhood, street and alley,” he said, adding, “The enemy’s holocaust aims to break the strength of our resistance… but we are fighting on our land in a holy battle.”
After Hamas launched a vicious onslaught on southern Israel on October 7 that claimed 1,200 lives, the most of them civilians, the conflict in Gaza began. In Israel’s counteroffensive against Hamas in the Gaza Strip, at least 17,700 people—the majority of them were civilians—have died at air, land, and sea.
