In a recent incident near his Florida golf course, former President Donald Trump emerged unharmed following a shooting.
The event, which unfolded near Trump’s Palm Beach golf course, involved gunshots fired from trees bordering the area.
According to a statement released by Steven Cheung, Communications Director for the Trump Campaign, “Former President Trump is safe following gunshots in his vicinity. No further details at this time.”
The shooting incident has sparked considerable concern, but authorities have yet to apprehend or identify the shooter.
The US Secret Service responded promptly, returning fire in the direction from which the shots originated.
A weapon was found at the scene, but the shooter remains at large.
The White House has been informed about the situation.
President Joe Biden and Vice-President Kamala Harris, both currently in Washington DC, have been briefed on the security incident.
A White House statement expressed relief at Trump’s safety, noting, “The President and Vice-President have been briefed about the security incident at the Trump International Golf Course, where former President Trump was golfing. They are relieved to know that he is safe. They will be kept regularly updated by their team.”
This incident comes on the heels of a similar event in July, when Trump survived an assassination attempt during an election rally in Pennsylvania.
In that case, Trump sustained a minor injury to his right ear, while the assailant was killed.
Authorities are continuing their investigation into the latest shooting to determine the motives and identity of the perpetrator.
