As the world eagerly anticipates Donald Trump’s second inaugural address, millions of people across the globe are waiting for the moment he is sworn in for another presidential term late Monday evening, India time. Several foreign leaders, tech billionaires, and top celebrities have already begun arriving in Washington, DC, to attend the historic ceremony, which will take place inside the Capitol Rotunda.
This year’s inauguration will see a significant shift in attendance. Politico has revealed that seven Democrats, who had boycotted Trump’s first inauguration in 2017, are now planning to attend. In a break from tradition, numerous foreign leaders will also join the high-profile event, signaling a notable international presence.
Among the notable foreign leaders attending are Italy’s Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, who will be representing her country at the ceremony. The Italian Government Presidency of the Council of Ministers confirmed her participation in the historic event.

Argentina’s President Javier Milei, who recently addressed events in Washington DC, described Trump’s inauguration as a “milestone event” and a “global crusade for freedom.” Milei emphasized that the ceremony marks the beginning of a new era. Ecuador’s President Daniel Noboa, El Salvador’s President Nayib Bukele, and former Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, along with other foreign leaders, have also received invitations.
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, though uncertain about his attendance, commented on the significance of Trump’s return to office. He stated that the Western world would experience a new dawn with Trump’s inauguration, bringing an end to what he described as “four bitter, difficult, painful years, punctuated by failures.” Orban’s remarks on democratic governance underscored the global political shift many anticipate with Trump’s second term.
India’s External Affairs Minister, S Jaishankar, will represent the country at Trump’s swearing-in ceremony. Jaishankar is also scheduled to meet with representatives from the incoming administration and other dignitaries visiting the US for the occasion.
In addition to world leaders, major tech billionaires expected to attend the inauguration. The New York Times reports that Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, and Jeff Bezos, three of the world’s wealthiest men, are likely to sit in a “position of honor on the dais.” Apple CEO Tim Cook may also join them.
In contrast to the challenges Trump’s team faced in securing top entertainers for his first inauguration in 2017, this year’s event will feature prominent stars performing at the inaugural ball. Grammy-winning artists Nelly, Lee Greenwood, Kid Rock, Billy Ray Cyrus, and Christopher Macchio will perform, joined by many other big names.
The inauguration will also see former US presidents and political figures in attendance. President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden, former President Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton, former President George W. Bush and Laura Bush, and former President Barack Obama are all expected to be present at the event.
As the countdown to Trump’s second inauguration continues, the attendance of global leaders, tech magnates, and A-list celebrities underscores the high-profile nature of this significant moment in American political history.
