Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday urged the international community to strengthen solidarity with developing nations, warning that disruptions in fuel, fertiliser and food supply chains caused by the crisis in West Asia will continue to affect the Global South for a considerable period.
Addressing the Outreach Session on ‘Reviving a Balanced, Shared and Sustainable Economic Growth for All’ at the G7 Summit in Evian, France, Prime Minister Modi said India’s development experience demonstrates how shared growth can transform aspirations into reality.

PM Modi highlighted the impact of global crises on vulnerable economies and said developing countries should not bear the burden of disruptions in essential supply chains alone.
“The disruptions in fuel, fertiliser and food supply chains caused by the crisis in West Asia will continue to impact the Global South for a considerable period. If we genuinely seek to strengthen international solidarity, the most vulnerable countries should not be left to bear the burden of these crises alone,” he said.
The Prime Minister also urged international financial institutions to create support mechanisms that help developing nations absorb economic shocks and maintain resilience.
Noting that many advanced economies are ageing while India and other Global South nations possess abundant young talent and skills, PM Modi proposed a Global Skills Partnership focused on skill mapping and trusted mobility. He also suggested expanding connectivity initiatives beyond the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC) and proposed establishing an ‘International Mobilisation Partnership for Accelerating Connectivity and Trade (IMPACT)’.
Ahead of the session, Prime Minister Modi interacted with several world leaders, including Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva.
