New satellite images released on Wednesday have revealed extensive destruction at Pakistan’s Murid air base following the 10 May strikes carried out by the Indian Air Force (IAF).
The images show significant damage to above-ground structures and confirm impact on underground facilities at the strategic site.
High-resolution visuals shared by Intel Lab on the social media platform X show a crater approximately three meters wide, located just 30 meters from one of the main entrances to the base.
Earlier imagery had already indicated damage to rooftops and structural elements at the air station, which is likely to serve as a key hub for Pakistani drone and missile operations.
Analyst Insights
Defence analyst Damien Symon, who posted the latest images, has played a key role in examining satellite data of Pakistan’s military infrastructure.
According to Symon, the Murid complex is a heavily fortified site, secured with dual fencing, watchtowers, and strict access controls, making it a high-value military target.
“This complex is heavily protected with double fencing, has its own watchtowers and access control, thus making it a high-value target. This site might have made to withstand any bombardment and might have served as storage for special equipment or as shelter for personnel,” Symon stated.
Murid air base, located in Chakwal about 150 kilometres from the Line of Control, acts as a forward operating base for Pakistan.
It supports the nearby Sargodha and Nur Khan air bases, both of which are strategically important for the Pakistani Air Force.
Comparison between pre- and post-strike satellite imagery further confirms the extent of damage.
Images from 16 April showed the structures at Murid intact, while those captured after the 10 May strikes reveal clear destruction.
“Structural damage is evident at this facility, believed to serve as a command-and-control node near the UAV complex of the airbase. A portion of the roof has collapsed inward, and the outer walls also exhibit visible deterioration,” Symon noted while releasing the comparison photos.
These revelations further underline the scale and precision of the IAF’s strike on the sensitive Pakistani air installation.
