On Thursday, Russia’s emergency service reported that a warehouse in Odintsovo, a town to the west of Moscow between Vladimir Putin’s official residence and the Vnukovo airport, was on fire.
It was unclear how the fire started at the warehouse, which was just 6.5 kilometers (4 miles) from Putin’s presidential mansion in Novo-Ogaryovo.
According to an emergency service statement, the fire reached 2,000 square meters (21,500 square feet) as of around midnight Moscow time.
This week, Russia reported two Ukrainian drone attacks near Moscow. Drones flying in from the west and south were shot down near Moscow by air defence systems.
