Prime Minister Narendra Modi concluded his official visit to the Netherlands on Sunday, where he was seen off at the airport by Dutch PM Rob Jetten before leaving for Sweden.
The gesture reflected the warmth and closeness in ties between the two nations.
Earlier in the day, the two leaders visited the iconic Afsluitdijk, widely regarded as a symbol of excellence in water management, flood protection, and freshwater storage.
Following the visit, PM Modi posted on X, “An area in which the Netherlands has done pioneering work is water resources. There is a lot the entire global community can learn from them.”
“This morning, I had the opportunity to visit the Afsluitdijk and understand the salient features of this project. I am thankful to PM Rob Jetten for accompanying me here,” the post read.
Prime Minister further added, “We are working to bring modern technology to India aimed at helping in irrigation, flood control and expanding the inland waterway network.”

Earlier, PM Modi met PM Jetten at the Catshuis in The Hague, the official residence of the Dutch PM. The Ministry of External Affairs issued a statement confirming the meeting.
The discussions covered a broad range of areas aimed at strengthening cooperation between India and the Netherlands, the statement noted.
Reflecting shared democratic values, mutual trust, and growing alignment, both leaders agreed to elevate their relationship to a ‘Strategic Partnership’.
Both leaders acknowledged the growing momentum in business, technology, and innovation partnerships, while noting that India’s economic growth presents promising opportunities for Dutch companies.
The leaders emphasised the importance of cooperation in Water, Agriculture, and Health (WAH). They also agreed to strengthen collaboration on water management through large-scale projects.
Highlighting strong cultural ties, PM Modi thanked the Netherlands government for facilitating the return of the 11th-century Chola plates.
Both sides also welcomed collaboration between Leiden University Library and the Archaeological Survey of India. The partnership aims to advance research and improve understanding of these historic artefacts.
The visit underscored a shared commitment to deepening bilateral engagement and expanding cooperation across key sectors.
With new agreements in place and stronger ties, both nations can further advance their partnership on the global stage.
