Donald Trump Warns Iran Against Renewed Military Activity; Signals Openness To Talks

US President Donald Trump has cautioned Iran against resuming prohibited military activities, warning that any such move would invite retaliation stronger than previous actions.

At the same time, he indicated a willingness to pursue renewed diplomatic talks with Tehran, reflecting a dual approach of deterrence and engagement.

Speaking at a joint press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at Mar-a-Lago, Trump said intelligence assessments suggested Iran was exploring alternative locations following earlier US strikes.

He warned that such steps would prove costly if confirmed, stressing that Washington would respond decisively.

Despite the strong rhetoric, Trump signalled openness to dialogue.

When asked whether the United States would support direct discussions with Iran, he said he would welcome talks. He added that he had previously urged negotiations before tensions escalated.

According to Trump, recent developments had reinforced US credibility in Tehran’s eyes.

Trump argued that limiting Iran’s regional influence remained essential for peace in the Middle East. He said unchecked Iranian rearmament would undermine stability and derail broader diplomatic efforts involving Israel and Arab nations.

Netanyahu echoed this view, linking Iran’s reduced power to improved prospects for regional agreements.

The US president also reflected on past regional conflicts, suggesting earlier interventions had altered the balance of power in ways that benefited Iran. He maintained that the current situation marked a shift, with Tehran no longer dominating the region as it once did.

Turning to Syria, Trump spoke positively about the country’s new leadership, describing the president as a strong figure.

Netanyahu said Israel’s primary focus remained on border security and the protection of minority communities, particularly the Druze and Christians.

Trump credited Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for playing a role in recent developments in Syria.

In Lebanon, Trump said Hezbollah continued to pose challenges, noting that the group’s actions remained under close watch.

Throughout the exchange, Trump underlined that his administration preferred to prevent escalation through deterrence and diplomacy. He reiterated that Iran had little incentive to provoke further conflict, warning that renewed military build-up would only invite swift consequences.

The remarks align with the Trump administration’s long-standing strategy of applying pressure on Iran. At the same time, the administration has kept channels for negotiation open. This balance once again framed discussions on Middle East security and diplomacy.
