A senior minister said on Saturday that the much-anticipated passenger boat service between India and Sri Lanka will be further delayed since New Delhi changed the port picked for the service.
The bragging service was supposed to start in April.
According to Newsfirst Lanka, Minister of Ports, Shipping and Aviation Nimal Siripala de Silva, the start of passenger boat service between India and Sri Lanka will be delayed.
The minister stated that India has altered the port for the boat service.
“India has sought a few more days to expand the facilities at the Nagapatnam port in Tamil Nadu which has been selected for that purpose”, the Minister added.
The minister had stated that the ferry service between Karaikal in Puducherry and Kankesanthurai in Jaffna district in Sri Lanka would resume on April 29.
The Sri Lanka Navy built a 1,000 square metre passenger terminal to handle immigration and customs clearance for ferry passengers.
