Biden To Visit India Two Days Ahead Of G20 And Hold Bilateral Talks With Prime Minister Modi

The White House has confirmed that US President Joe Biden will travel to India on September 7 to attend the G20 summit, as well as a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

India, as G20 President, will host world leaders for the Summit, which will take place in New Delhi on September 9 and 10.

“The President will fly to New Delhi, India on Thursday to attend the G20 Leaders’ Summit”, the White House announced on Friday.

President Biden will meet with Prime Minister Modi in a bilateral meeting on September 8.

President Biden will participate in the G20 summit on Saturday and Sunday, where he and G20 partners will discuss a variety of coordinated efforts to address global concerns, including the clean energy transition and tackling climate change.

They will also alleviate the economic and social consequences of the Russia-Ukraine war, and strengthen the capacity of multilateral development banks, notably the World Bank, to combat poverty more effectively, including by addressing global challenges.

While in New Delhi, President Biden will also commend Prime Minister Modi’s leadership of the G20 and reiterate the United States’ commitment to the G20 as the preeminent forum of economic cooperation, including by hosting it in 2026.
