President Joe Biden's forceful statement was prompted by escalating tensions in the Middle East.

In the wake of heightened tensions in the Middle East, the United States has initiated airstrikes targeting militia positions in both Iraq and Syria, according to CNN reports. President Joe Biden issued a stern warning, emphasizing that the U.S. does not seek conflict but will respond if any harm comes to Americans.

The president’s statement comes following a drone attack on a U.S. military outpost in Jordan, where three American soldiers lost their lives. Biden declared, “If you harm an American, we will respond,” highlighting the gravity of the situation.

The retaliatory measures specifically target Iranian-backed militias, accused of attacking U.S. troops in the region. Two U.S. officials confirmed the commencement of these strikes, signaling a more substantial response.

President Biden emphasized the tragic loss of American lives in the recent drone attack and confirmed the initiation of U.S. military actions against facilities used by the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) and affiliated militia groups. The attacks are aimed at command and control operations, intelligence centers, rockets, missiles, unmanned aerial vehicle storages, and logistics and munition supply chain facilities.

The U.S. Central Command disclosed that the airstrikes involved more than 85 targets across seven locations. The statement outlined the use of various aircraft, including long-range bombers like the Air Force B-1, equipped to deploy precision and non-precision weapons.

U.S. Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin echoed the president’s stance, stating that the strikes are just the beginning of the response. He affirmed the president’s directive for additional actions to hold the IRGC and affiliated militias accountable, promising future responses at times and places of their choosing.

Austin emphasized that the U.S. does not seek conflict but will not tolerate attacks on American forces, pledging to take all necessary actions to defend the country, its forces, and its interests. The situation remains fluid as the U.S. responds to the evolving developments in the region.
