Australia Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said on Saturday that Australia is a tolerant multicultural country, and anyone responsible for attacks on religious sites will confront the full force of the law.

The Australian Prime Minister’s remarks came a day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed worry to him about recent temple attacks in Australia.

PM Albanese stated that Australia respects people’s faith and will not tolerate assaults on religious structures, whether they are Hindu temples, mosques, synagogues, or churches.

PM Albanese assured a group of Australian journalists that the nation’s security agencies will ensure that anyone responsible for such activities confronts the full force of the law before ending his three-day tour to India.

“I assured him that Australia is a nation that honors people’s religious beliefs. That we don’t condone the kind of extreme behavior and assaults on places of worship, whether they be churches, mosques, synagogues, or Hindu temples,” PM Albanese said.

According to a transcript made available by the Australian PM’s office, he said, “Australia should not tolerate this. Additionally, we’ll do everything in our power to ensure that whoever is to blame for this confronts the full force of the law through the use of our security and police forces. There is no place in Australia for such activity. We are a tolerant, multicultural country”.

Prime Minister Modi raises issue of recent attacks

PM Albanese was questioned about the promises he gave PM Modi regarding the preservation of Hindu temples in Australia.

At the first India-Australia summit on Friday, Prime Minister Modi brought up the recent assaults on temples during his conversations with PM Albanese.
