Another Arrest In Brampton Hindu Temple Attack

Canadian Police have announced a new arrest related to the violent incident at Brampton Hindu temple on November 3.

Peel Region Police stated on Saturday that investigators from the 21 Division Criminal Investigations Bureau, along with the Strategic Investigation Team (SIT), have arrested another person involved in the clash at the Brampton Mandir.

According to the statement, the November 3 incident took place at the temple on The Gore Road, where a protest escalated into physical assaults as tensions grew between opposing demonstrators.

The individual arrested has been identified as 35-year-old Inderjeet Gosal of Brampton. On November 8, police charged Gosal with “Assault with a Weapon.” He was released on certain conditions and is expected to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton at a later date.

The Peel Regional Police have also formed a dedicated Strategic Investigative Team to examine criminal activities linked to the events of November 3 and 4. They noted that investigations like this take time, and arrests are made as individuals are identified, regardless of sequence.

Last week, police arrested four other individuals after several protests turned violent in Mississauga and Brampton, including another clash at a Hindu temple. During these incidents, a police officer sustained injuries.

Police responded to a “trespassing complaint” at an undisclosed place of worship near The Gore Road, where protestors had gathered.

In light of the recent violence, the Consulate General of India in Toronto canceled planned consular camps for issuing life certificates to Indian pensioners, citing security agencies’ “inability to provide minimum protection” amid tensions with Khalistani extremist groups.

India has expressed concern over the safety of its citizens in Canada following these events. On November 4, Prime Minister Narendra Modi strongly condemned the “deliberate attack” on the Hindu temple, adding that these acts of violence would not weaken India’s resolve.

“I strongly condemn the deliberate attack on a Hindu temple in Canada. Equally appalling are the cowardly attempts to intimidate our diplomats,” PM Modi posted on X.

He urged the Canadian government to “ensure justice and uphold the rule of law,” reaffirming India’s support for Indians in Canada.
