On Sunday, as gun violence incidents in the United States continue to rise, a police officer and a sheriff’s deputy were shot dead in Salina, New York.
The suspect was also slain in the incident, which occurred at a house near Darien Drive at around 8:15 p.m. on Sunday.
Salina is a town in Onondaga County, New York, United States.
Notably, cops were responding to a report of a stolen vehicle in Syracuse when they arrived at the Salina house and were shot.
According to the report, Onondaga County Sheriff Tobias Shelley identified the two cops who died as a deputy and a Syracuse police officer. However, their identities have not been revealed.
Shelley indicated that there is no mediated threat to the neighborhood, and the place is currently secure.
While the inquiry is ongoing, further information is awaited.
