In October, Pakistan saw 198 people killed and 111 others injured in terrorist attacks, according to the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS). Despite a 12% reduction in militant incidents, October emerged as the year’s second deadliest month. In comparison, August recorded the highest casualties with 254 deaths and 150 injuries.
The casualties included 89 militants, 62 security personnel, and 38 civilians, while 56 civilians, 44 security personnel, and 11 militants sustained injuries. Combatant fatalities accounted for 81% of total deaths, PICSS data showed.
Northwestern Region Experiences Most Attacks
The majority of incidents occurred in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with 87% of the attacks concentrated there, followed by 24 attacks in Balochistan. The remaining incidents happened in other regions across Pakistan.
Violence Persists Across Pakistan
From January to October 2024, Pakistan endured 785 militant attacks, resulting in 951 deaths and 966 injuries, PICSS reported. This data highlights the high levels of violence persisting across the country.
