Meta-owned WhatsApp plans to unveil a new feature allowing users to make calls directly from within the app, a move aimed at enhancing user convenience and functionality.
According to reports from WABetaInfo, WhatsApp users will soon have access to an in-app dialer that eliminates the need to add contacts to their address book before placing calls.
Meta has designed this new feature to streamline the calling process and make it more seamless for users.
Key details reveal that a floating action button will appear within the calls tab of the app, granting users quick access to the in-app dialer.
Once activated, users can simply enter a phone number and initiate a call without the prerequisite of saving it to their contacts first.
Moreover, users will have the option to save a newly dialed number directly to their address book as a new contact or append it to an existing contact card, enhancing organizational capabilities within the app.
Additionally, WhatsApp’s upcoming update will introduce a messaging shortcut on the dialer screen.
This feature allows users to swiftly transition from a planned call to sending a message to the same phone number, offering flexibility in communication choices.
Currently, Meta is gradually rolling out this feature to beta testers who have installed the latest WhatsApp beta for Android via the Google Play Store.
The broader rollout is expected to encompass more users in the coming days, as indicated by the report.
In parallel developments, WhatsApp is reportedly exploring another feature tailored for community group chats.
This upcoming capability will enable users to view a comprehensive compilation of all media shared within their community groups, encompassing images, videos, and other files.
